From Carolyn Keene’s Nancy Drew to Mary Stuart’s Nine Coaches Waiting to anything by Jane Austen, Evelyn’s early literary influences were masters of romance and intrigue. After a steady diet of romance, mystery, and history, her own stories began to flow. It’s no wonder they are filled with complex women, enigmatic men, and the conviction that love never fails. Evelyn loves writing romance—both historical and contemporary—and sometimes the stories beg for a dash of mystery. However, any mystery is secondary to the relationships and personal growth of the characters. “Always expect a happy ending!” is so much a part of her that she’s told her family to engrave “Now living happily ever after!” on her tombstone. Her writing experience includes a poetry chapbook, The Kulwicki Chronicles, published by the Alan Kulwicki estate (1992 NASCAR Winston Cup champion) and was on display in the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC. The Kulwicki Chronicles was revised in 2014 and is available on amazon.com. Evelyn has won awards for poetry and fiction and wrote a stage play, which was produced and performed by VSA of Virginia, a charitable organization for physically and intellectually disabled adults. She also writes “Love Stories” for wedding receptions for a local entertainment company. The Canary Cage, a historical romance, was published by Elk Lake Publishing in 2018. She collaborates as a nonfiction ghostwriter and was thrilled to see three books published in 2020. Evelyn has led a writer’s group in Virginia Beach since 2004. She is a member of ACFW, ACFW/Virginia Chapter, and serves as secretary for Hampton Roads Writers. She lives happily in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Rod, her amazing husband and staunchest supporter.
