Hello from Gloucester County. I'm an anthropologist and author of non-fiction books aimed at a wide audience. Probably my best-known book is How Animals Grieve, which has been translated into 7 languages and became the basis for a popular TED talk. I've also written Personalities on the Plate: The Lives and Minds of Animals We Eat; Animals' Best Friends: Putting Compassion to Work for Animals in Captivity and in the Wild; and 4 other titles. I'm also a book critic, reviewing for NPR, the TLS in London, Science Magazine, and the Washington Post, and a speaker at public events regarding science, animal advocacy, or writing.
