Hampton Roads Writers Conference

September 23 - 25, 2021

Holiday Inn
Virginia Beach - Norfolk Hotel & Conference Center
5655 Greenwich Road
Virginia Beach, VA 23462

As of August 26, we still plan to have an in-person conference. However, we have instituted the following COVID-19 policy protocol: We are requiring that all attendees be fully vaccinated (if medically able) and be masked throughout the entirety of the conference. For those people unable to be vaccinated, we require proof of a negative COVID test performed no more than three days prior to the start of the conference.

We are working with the hotel to assure all mitigation measures are followed. Our conference registration numbers are about half what we receive most years so crowding in any of the classrooms should not be a problem.

We undertake these measures to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you.

Now in its 13th year, the Hampton Roads Writers Conference features 1 evening plus 2 full days of workshops, 2 best-selling keynoters, 2 first-ten-lines critique sessions, 60 workshops during 10 breakout sessions, ten-minute agent pitches, cash prize contests for short fiction, short nonfiction, and poetry, complimentary 90-minute cocktail social, 2-hour open mic.

Tuition includes 2 continental breakfasts, 2 lunches, and a cocktail social (cash bar) with COMPLIMENTARY heavy hors d'oeuvres, entry into 1 or more of the contests, and the opportunity to pitch to literary agents.
