Sharran Taylor

Author Sharran C. Taylor,  A.K.A. Poet Kween Yakini, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and as a child she drew upon her writing abilities as a form of self-expression.  Kween’s ability to write became more evident as she would practice writing Hip Hop rhymes which was her favorite thing to do at that time.  Later in life, as an adult with more life experiences to share, she began to write poetry as a way to express her deepest thoughts.   By publishing her works she has earned two Poetry Awards from the Nat Turner Library and has also had some great opportunities to perform Spoken Word at some notable events in and around the Hampton Roads are.   For Kween being a Poetry writer and Spoken Word Artist is more than what she does, it’s who she is and who she was meant to be.
