Kay Brownlow

A retired librarian, Kay grew up in Wisconsin and has lived in Virginia Beach for thirty six years, where, as a single mother, she brought up her three sons. Writing classes, art classes, and babysitting her three grandchildren keep her quite busy. Kay also plays a mean bridge game and tries to see as many movies as possible.

Kay has won prizes for her writing at the Christopher Newport Writers' conference. She won 1st place in the nonfiction contest in 2009. In March 2008, she received an honorable mention for her creative nonfiction entitled, A Real Egyptian Dinner. In 2007, she took a third place award for her creative nonfiction for a piece entitled, February Thaw.
